- First, my favorite newly discovered blog is the Pissed Libeerian, whose author, Tracy Cornelius, goes into an excellent primer for beginners looking to understand American craft beer.
- If you're in Philly, Jack Curtin reminds us to stop by the Local 44 and sign the petition to bring more craft beer to Philly (because that's what the city really needs).
- Beer and pretzel caramel looks delicious.
- PakTech thinks they've developed a better way to package cans. Read the interview with Marketing Manager Amie Thomas on Craftcans.com.
- Box Vox had a nice post on Marlboro's 1970s foray into beer.
- Inc. reported last month on the craft beer stimulus package.
- Portland Art Museum did one of the cooler things ever, when they decided to ask local brewers to let themselves be inspired by art for one-off brews. You can see the art on the link, but we can't taste beer over the Internet yet. Still, good to know someone else is combining art and beer.
- Great story on Brian Strumke of Sillwater Ales, which has produced some of the best art of the year (via Beer in Baltimore).
- Jeff Alworth reminds us that if you're smart, odds are you drink more beer.
- The Harvard Business Review on barriers to good design.
- Alan McLeod's yearly beer photo contest is on (send in pictures of beer, win cool stuff).
- Okay, one more final post on the beer blogging kerfuffle by guru Stan Hieronymous.
- Jay Brooks' Beer in Art #100 is Barbara Shermund's Beer Drinking Pianist:
- Lastly, another Box Vox post, this one about the coolest damn thing I've seen in a while; New Brighton Brewing's Scott Van Campden and Mark Zappasodi created a Steampunk-inspired beer vehicle as a massive sculpture for Brewing as Art on Staten Island. It is insanely awesome:
I'll be checking out Bill Murphy's and the Fork and Barrel tomorrow in East Falls before hitting up the Gangstagrass show at The Fire. Anyone who wants good beer should come on out. If that made no sense to you, that's because you are not from the Philadelphia area and so probably are not able to join me for a beer, anyway.
