Stillwater's "Of Love and Regret" Label Art by Lee Verzosa

Stillwater Artisanal Ales has received approval for the label of its Import series beer brewed in Belgium and sold in the US. "Of Love and Regret" is a "saison brewed with an array of spring botanicals and grassy hops to celebrate the season." Sounds delicious, and the label art looks awesome:

Artist Lee Verzosa is a tattoo artist at Ghost Town Odditorium in Ellicott City, MD. This image features some black-and-gray line work over a map of Belgium.

I'm a bit of a sucker for great tattoo art, and Verzosa's work here shows what separates good tattoo artists from great. The image does more than just depict objects in detail; it has a real ethos. The Victorian dress and use of the cad and stabbing woman evoke a very specific genre of literature and art. But even the composition is thought out, with the two figures leaning to the left, and the regretful stabber coming up to the right with the knife leading into the arc of text that ties it together. Great work, and I'm looking forward to more of Verzosa's work.
